Is forced chemical castration the solution to protecting children from sexual assault in Indonesia?
A Balinese Court recently punished 70-year-old Australian Robert Ellis to 15 years behind bars for sexually abusing 11 women in his home in Denpasar, Bali. He escaped recently presented punishments such as chemical castration, digital chip implants and the fatality charge for sexual assault versus minors, recently adopted by Indonesia under a brand-new legislation amending the 2002 child protection legislation. The punishments can be used once the federal government passes regulations to implement the new legislation. The intro of these severe measures is questionable. Rights activists and doctors particularly challenge forced chemical castration.
